The conditions of washing

Dr Fomsky has a post on co-washing and because I have been asked in the past why anyone would choose a no-poo hair 'wash', here's a lil something for you:

If you strip off the outer layers of oils, your hair will tangle more easily, look dull and be more easily dehydrated. - Science-YHairBlog.Blogspot.com

Many hair bloggers have spoken on how detergents in shampoo and even some conditioners can strip hair of its natural oils and for those that are pH conscious, some believe that even Dr Bronner's Castile Soap can be too harsh on your scalp. However you decide to no-poo, just make sure the recipe you are following makes sense for what you are trying to achieve and always check the ingredients on conditioners used to no-poo wash. Please remember this note and Susan's thoughts on washing your hair with baking soda and rinsing with vinegar. A quick look through hair forums might also help.
